Type 5s need significant alone time to think and recharge, and they'd rather understand something deeply than discuss it socially. They observe before jumping into a situation. That need for space usually comes from feeling like their energy and time are limited resources worth protecting carefully.

Their focus and independence suit research, engineering, IT, or academic work. They tend to do their best work with long, uninterrupted blocks of time rather than a schedule full of meetings.
