Big Five Personality Traits

The five broad dimensions, Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, used to describe personality in most academic research.

The Big Five (also called OCEAN) is the personality model cited most often in peer-reviewed psychology research. Instead of sorting people into fixed types, it scores each person on five independent spectrums, from low to high.

Each trait captures a different slice of personality: Openness (curiosity about ideas and experience), Conscientiousness (organization and discipline), Extraversion (energy from social interaction), Agreeableness (cooperation and empathy), and Neuroticism (sensitivity to stress).
