Free Jungian-Style 16 Types Test

This test scores you on four dichotomies: how you direct energy, take in information, make decisions, and structure your life.

Answer each statement on a 5-point scale, from strongly disagree to strongly agree. There's no right answer, just react honestly.

This free 16 types personality test gives you a 4-letter code you can compare with friends, family, or coworkers, a quick, memorable snapshot rather than a full trait-by-trait profile.

No sign-up. No email. Results in your browser.

What This 16 Types Test Measures

You'll get a 4-letter code from four dichotomies: Extraversion/Introversion, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Judging/Perceiving. Together they describe how you direct energy, process information, decide, and structure your life.

Each dichotomy is a spectrum, and this personality quiz places you on the side you lean toward more often, most people aren't at the extreme edge of any single letter.

  • Extraversion / Introversion: whether you direct energy outward toward people and activity, or inward toward reflection.
  • Sensing / Intuition: whether you focus on concrete facts and details, or patterns and possibilities.
  • Thinking / Feeling: whether you decide primarily through logical analysis, or personal values and impact on people.
  • Judging / Perceiving: whether you prefer a structured, planned life, or a flexible, spontaneous one.

How It Works (32 questions, 8 minutes)

Answer 32 short statements about yourself on a 5-point scale. One question per screen, with a progress bar so you always know how far you are.

The 32 statements are split evenly across the four dichotomies, so each one gets an equal say in your final 4-letter type code.

The Science Behind the 16 Types Test

This is an original questionnaire we wrote ourselves, informed by the general public concept of Jungian psychological type, not a copy of any commercial instrument. Read more on our Methodology page. Read the full methodology

The underlying dichotomies trace back to Carl Jung's early-20th-century theory of psychological types, popularized later by MBTI-style typology, but this specific 32-item questionnaire is ours, not a paraphrased or licensed copy of any commercial test.

Type-based models like this one are widely used for self-reflection and conversation, but they don't carry the same peer-reviewed evidence base as trait models like the Big Five, we say so plainly rather than overstating the science.
